Marchiori & Barraud Malbec
Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud are two of Argentina's most respected winemakers. Both come from families with a long history of winemaking traditions, and both pursued advanced degrees at UC-Davis before returning to Mendoza. After years of working with Paul Hobbs at Vina Cobos, the duo are now making their own wines from the prestigious Marchiori Vineyard, one of the most acclaimed in all of Argentina.
Their Malbec blends fruit from the Las Pintadas Vineyard in Lujan de Cuyo with fruit from the La Esperanza Vineyard in the Valle de Uco. The finished wine is brilliant and a great value as well. Intense in color and possessing a complex and intense nose of dark cherry, brambly raspberry, and blackberry, this opens up on the palate to reveal additional nuances of vanilla, spice, and just a hint of smoke.
